Training with Heart Rate or Power
Been riding this summer and getting into better shape? Noticed how that hill that used to kill you is just a shift or two to get over now? You're getting in better shape, riding longer distance and faster. But, how can you accurately measure your improvement? A heart rate monitor is a relatively inexpensive tool to think about adding to your kit. It will aid in your workout planning, allowing you to target heart rates that will maximize your workout effort on the bike. The next step up from there is usually a power meter. They are a priceless tool for seeing the exact amount of effort you're putting out at any given time. They are much more accurate than heart rate only, give instant response to ever changing conditions while riding, and will take your training to the next level.
